Fall/Winter 2012 NYFW Round-Up

oh... it is that time of year again... the annual Fall/Winter 2012 NYFW collections didn't fail to impress. the top 8 runway shows I feel best connect with the designers inspirations and were just best overall in my opinion are here:

1) Rodarte
The Sisters have made my list every single time so far, and this time they came at #1, and i'm not surprised. first off... their shoes! OH. MY. GOD. THE SHOES! Maybe some people thought it was taking their inspiration of the Australian outback to far by including sand inside their Plexiglass heels, but I thought it was beyond genius and exciting. They ave certainly started a new trend, what will the Sisters do next? We will just have to wait and see! oh, and the hair accessories were beyond cute <3

2) Jason Wu
You know its an amazing Jason Wu collection when you see one. And this was no exception. Wu wanted to get back in-touch with his Asian roots and that was the main inspiration for his collection. I thought he did a fabulous job. For some weird reason, Im starting to pay more attention to the details, and the hassle earrings were awesome! The accessories were one of the best in NYFW this season. He did a perfect job of creating this collection without going over the top.

3) Oscar de la Renta
Full skirts, Pincess Ballgowns, pastel pinks and blues, jewels, and tiaras... de la Renta couldn't have done it better. This astonishing big collection covered almost every single possible aspect of glamour. oh and by the way, the amazing tiaras and fishnet stockings were my favorite part <3

4) Cuschine et Ochs
The amazing cutouts in the dresses where perfectly placed to accentuate the curves in the model's bodies. Sexy. Daring. Fashion Forward. Those three words perfectly describe the collection. Ribbons of fabric graceful draped across the body and added some texture and dimension into the designs. And they know how to make a perfect LBD, the zippers, cutouts (again), and detail were hands down the best ever.

5) Marc Jacobs
The set for the runway show itself was truly astonishing itself. The furry hats, big ass buttons, rhinestones and all just brought the collection a sense of cohesiveness. Marc Jacovs is one god damn amazing designr. The last couple of looks were the best. The patched together pieces of leather, gezz...what can't Jacobs do? and the way ALL the models looked fabulous in those dresses/ skirts with padded hips...he must have a trick to tell all of us.

6) Marchesa
You will most definitely see these dresses that Marchesa put out this season on the Red Carpet. The intricate velvet and lace details that were on all of the dresses just made me wonder how long it actually took to a make all of these looks possible. oh. and the heels. those god damn louboutins. just make me so so so happy :) and no one knows how to do laser cut dresses better than them.

7) Proenza Schouler
Although, not a totally memorable collection, it was a nice one. The asymmetrical hemlines immediately caught my attention. They have developed a new thrend also: OVERSIZED EVERYTHING! I also loved how they managed to bring sophistication and classiness to this casual-like collection without overdoing it and making it 'evening wear.' The pops of color under the black, dark red, and navy fabrics caught my eye big time. and again, the overall silhouette and hemlines were again, beyond gorgeous and fantastic.

8) Creatures of the Wind
The inspiration behind this collection for the Chicago-based duo was The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns, and Fairies. There were yards and yards of leather and wool perfect for the Fall and Winter seasons. What surprised me most was the Swarovski crystals on the back of some of the blazers. My favorite pieces from this collection were look numbers 1, 11, 13, 21, and 23. All of these had a mix of different texture of fabrics along with various prints that worked together beautifully.

What did you think of NYFW this season? Come back after Fashion Week for more reviews and my personal favorites! I only have NYFW Fall/Winter 2012 but I will start to include more of London, Milan, and Paris, along with Couture, Resort, Pre-Fall ect.
